and one for me!

my pangga got his a few months ago.. and now... *drumrolls*

i got mine!!!

i got it last sunday.. but didnt want to post about it until i got it running and configured to the wireless network.. =) i wanted to post this blog using MY new laptop.. hehehe =D

i was initially looking for a lightweight laptop.. =p no need to explain why.. ehe *blush*

however, there are a lot of spec trade offs if ill go for the laptop that weighs around 1.5 kg.. some even have external drives.. uhhh.. i dont think that's gonna work for me.. i dont wanna go around looking for the missing parts of my laptop.. =p in the end, we decided to get the not so heavy, not so light.. 2.3 kg..

the presario v2000.. the latest and smallest member of the compaq presario family.. mostly it has good reviews.. but naturally if it is compared to very high end notebooks.. it falls short..

but hey.. there's always something better out there in market.. which would cost you a great deal.. i got my money's worth with this one =)

this is so great! now, my pangga and I can play network games! hahaha! right mahal? =p

every nation church

sunday.. we went to the 'every nation' christian church.. it was our first time to attend the service so as expected we were a bit late.. heheh.. we still needed to look for the exact location of where the service was being held.. =)

the sermon was good.. the pastor was kewl.. he was preaching for maybe more than 30 minutes after the praise and worship (which was, i think, more than 30 minutes as well).. but the good thing was.. i didnt get bored.. i was actually listening to every word and every story he told.. =)

well, it's a fact that our mind wonders every now and then after listening for a couple of minutes.. but i think mine focused more than usual.. =p

after the service, we got to catch up with some of our friends.. former co-workers, who are also trying their luck here.. chit-chat and lunch.. =) we've a picture with them.. but it's on their camera.. hehe..

o yeah, before i forget.. the highlight of the picture taking was when they (again, again, 'they'..) had their picture taken with donita rose.. apparently she goes to the same church.. =) ayaw namin ng pangga ko sumamasa picture e.. but ill still post the picture when i get a copy of it =D

diwali festival

the indian community here in the office is celebrating a festival called diwali..

an email was sent to the whole department informing us that they will be bringing some treats on monday.. with that i got a bit curious as to what the festival is.. and why they are eager to organize this small gathering on monday..

diwali is one of the most well known indian festivals.. it is well celebrated even amongst the indians outside of the main country (india).. it is colloquially known as the 'festival of lights'.. and this is because of the common practice to light small oil lamps and place them around the home.. in the urban areas, the candles are used to substitute the lamps.. among the nouveau riche, (hear this..) neon lights are made to substitute for candles.. hehehe.. =D

it is said that the festival signifies different things to different people throughout the world.. however, there is still a commonality.. it signifies the renewal of life.. and it is common to wear new clothes on the day of the festival.. (shopping time! hehehe.. =p) the celebration is accompanied by fireworks and the exchange of sweets..

then i remembered that it has been quite some time since we went to the cinemas.. it's quite expensive.. ehehe.. =p

and THIS is the sad part.. did you know.. that movies are released here in SG a month or two after it has been released on every country i know.. that sucks!  pano na si harry potter.. huhuhu.. =(

sabi ko nga kay pangga.. i would be reading about the movie in your blogs.. even before i can actually see the movie here.. *sigh*

puzzles for your brain

we went shopping for puzzles yesterday.. we already have 4 wooden puzzles (which are somewhere in the office being solved).. which we bought in china town for $10 each.. i thought it was kinda expensive.. but when we compare it with the price of the puzzles we saw it greenbelt.. it was way cheaper.. =) so good buy na din..

we plan to collect these puzzles - wooden, metal, ropes - and pass it on to our would be junior and little jane.. hehehe.. =p

the mall was in jurong east.. the biggest mall, so far, that i have seen.. the store name was 'daiso, always $2'.. parang yung 99c store sa US..

the puzzles here were smaller compared to the ones we bought at china town.. a different kind of wood was used as well.. but for two dollars.. ok na din.. we're after the challenge of solving them anyway.. =) ingat nga lang.. hehehe.. baka pagnanggigil kakasolve.. tsk tsk.. sira ang puzzle.. =p

office event

~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~
MORNING

waaaah! i have butterflies in my stomach..

at 130, we'll be having this office event.. like a quarterly gathering of some sort.. and all the newbies were divided into four teams..

each of the team will be doing a presentation.. waaaah!

im not really expecting for us to win.. i just hope everything goes well.. that we wont get all nervous and mess up our presentation.. =S *nail biting*

got to go! wish us luck! =) *cross fingers*

~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~
EVENING

elow.. just updating my blog.. with everything that happened on our office offsite..

we didnt win.. =( but twas ok.. oh who am i kiddin.. most of us were kinda dissppointed.. the team that we least expected to win, won.. how? we dont know.. perhaps coz we're in a different country.. so different standard.. different expectations.. hehehe.. just needed to share it..

our team (Jerilee, Wen Jin, Moi, Kiat Fatt, Rizza, Allvina, Arnold and Ramesh but he was cut out of the frame =S) with our costume or what's left of it.. ehehe..

but aside from that.. the whole event was great all in all.. we all had fun!!!

our team won the charades game.. we almost won the name that tune song.. i got eliminated early on the musical chairs game.. =p i was kinda surprise to see myself being so makulit and maingay.. ="> hyper ako sobra! too much sugar i guess.. hahaha! =p

the event was held on one of the ballrooms of the raffles town club.. after the presentations and games.. we proceeded to the bar of the club.. where the awardings took place..

there was also a free round of drinks c/o our big boss.. =D

there was a stage for the band.. but no one was playing.. so they just played a couple of songs..

we got to dance the macarena.. well, the filipinos at least.. kami lang ang game e.. hehehe.. namiss ko tuloy ang kada when we were just in college.. we would start dancing to get everyone dancing as well.. haaay..

the big boss danced the swing with two female coworkers.. =) nayz!

then there came a group of musicians who serenaded all of us.. we requested for them to sing a filipino song.. and they sang.. the.. hmmm.. 'may pumukol sa pipit, sa sanga ng isang kahoy'.. dont really remember the title anymore.. hehehe.. but we all sang with them.. and they sang it well given that they were locals and not really filipinos.. =D

after the drinking, dancing and singing.. it's time for dinner!

just across the street.. was a chinese restaurant that was reserved for our department.. we had the traditional chinese dinner where the food are served one by one.. they would place the next viand only when we're done with the one on the table.. daming food! i think it was seven dishes or so.. =)

this was a fun fun event! i got to interact with most of our officemates.. make them laugh.. laugh with them.. converse with them.. play with them.. do the wave with them.. brag and do some trash talk with them during the games.. sing and dance with them.. have pictures taken with them.. and lastly.. had a heartful dinner with everyone! =D

here's to the kampong spirit! cheers!

i was suppose to post something today saying why this day stinks..
but when i got to the office.. i totally forgot what it was..

dinner @ ichiban boshi

my pangga and i went for a dinner date last night.. japanese food!

the location of the store was kewl! it's one of the many restaurants around the suntech fountain.. what makes it even great (aside from the fact that im with my pangga.. =D) is that by the time we got our seats at ichiban.. the laser show was just starting.. we can clearly see it from where we are seated.. that was the first time i saw the laser show.. =)

we had california handrolls for starters.. para siyang california maki.. pero iba ang presentation.. wrapped in seawead folded like an ice cream cone..

and soft crabs! yummy! this was my fave for the night..

for our main meal.. both of us got the set meal.. that comes with chilled noodles to be dipped in a sauce that tastes like it has a little wine in it.. and sticky rice topped with chicken mixed with egg.. yung kay pangga yata pork or beef.. bu definitely not chicken.. and the egg on his bowl was not yet that cooked.. malasado.. which is how it is suppose to be.. then may side dish of veggies that we didnt eat because we didnt know what they are.. hahaha! and last.. the orange slices..

it would sound a lot nicer if i was able to remember the name of the food we ordered.. pero hirap tandaan e.. next time, ill write it down.. hahaha!

and another note to self.. bring camera!!!

nga pla.. green tea to end the meal.. haaaay.. busog!

it was a great meal.. i was a bit tired from using the chopsticks though.. (yup! still learning how to use these wooded sticks that causes me to have my food flying around.. messy!)

til our next foodtrip! oishi!

flower on the mountain cliff

this made me teary-eyed.. buti na lang nasa office ako.. i was able to hold back my tears.. (magsenti ba.. at 2pm in the afternoon.. =p haha!)

a story for those who have lost the sense of romance in their lives..

~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~

My husband is an Engineer by profession, I love him for his steady nature, and I love the warm feeling when I lean against his broad shoulders.

Three years of courtship and now, two years into marriage, I would have to admit, that I am getting tired of it. The reasons of me loving him before, has now transformed into the cause of all my restlessness.

I am a sentimental woman and extremely sensitive when it comes to a relationship and my feelings, I yearn for the romantic moments, like a little girl yearning for candy.

My husband, is my complete opposite, his lack of sensitivity, and the inability of brin ging romantic moments into our marriage has disheartened me about love.

One day, I finally decided to tell him my decision, that I wanted a divorce.

"Why?" he asked, shocked. "I am tired, there are no reasons for everything in the world!" I answered.

He kept silent the whole night, seems to be in deep thought with a lighted cigarette at all times.

My feeling of disappointment only increased, here was a man who can't even express his predicament, what else can I hope from him?

And finally he asked me:" What can I do to change your mind?" Somebody said it right, it's hard to change a person's personality, and I guess, I have started losing faith in him.

Looking deep into his eyes I slowly answered : "Here is the question, if you can answer and convince my heart, I will change my mind, Let's say, I want a flower located on the face of a mountain cliff, and we both are sure that picking the flower will cause your death, will you do it for me?"

He said :" I will give you your answer tomorrow...." My hopes just sank by listening to his response.

I woke up the next morning to find him gone, and saw a piece of paper with his scratchy handwriting, underneath a milk glass, on the dining table near the front door, that goes....

My dear,

"I would not pick that flower for you, but please allow me to explain the reasons further.."

This first line was already breaking my heart. I continued reading.

"When you use the computer you always mess up the Software programs, and you cry in front of the screen, I have to saved my fingers so that I can help to restore the programs.

You always leave the house keys behind, thus I have to save my legs to rush home to open the door for you.

You love traveling but always lose your way in a new city, I have to save my eyes to show you the way.

You always have the cramps whenever your "good friend" approaches every month, I have to save my palms so that I can calm the cramps in your tummy.

You like to stay indoors, and I worry that you will be infected by infantile autism. I have to save my mouth to tell you jokes and stories to cure your boredom.

You always stare at the computer, and that will do nothing good for your eyes, I have to save my eyes so that when we grow old, I can help to clip your nails, and help to remove those annoying white hairs. So I can also hold your hand while strolling down the beach, as you enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful sand... and tell you the colour of flowers, just like the color of the glow on your young face...

Thus, my dear, unless I am sure that there is someone who loves you more than I do... I could not pick that flower yet, and die.. "

My tears fell on the letter, and blurred the ink of his handwriting...

and as I co ntinue on reading...

"Now, that you have finished reading my answer, if you are satisfied, please open the front door for I am standing outside bringing your favorite bread and fresh milk..."

I rush to pull open the door, and saw his anxious face, clutching tightly with his hands, the milk bottle and loaf of  bread....

Now I am very sure that no one will ever love me as much as he does, and I have decided to leave the flower alone...

That's life, and love. When one is surrounded by love, the feeling of excitement fades away, and one tends to ignore the true love that lies in between the peace and dullness.

Love shows up in all forms, even very small and cheeky forms, it has never been a model, it could be the most dull and boring form.... flowers, and romantic moments are only used and appear on the surface of the relationship.

Under all this, the pillar of true love stands... and that's our life.. . Love, not words, win arguments...

wedding preps

i just read gewi's blog..

she mentioned about missing not being able to talk about her wedding preps..

and it occured to me that i havent had any real updates regarding our wedding since we got here.. =S *freaking out*

all i was able to accomplish was the draft of our ceremony.. i have yet to send it to my uncle.. who will be officiating the wedding..

i was afraid of this.. that i might be too lax because i still have lots of time for the preparation.. (calling netnet! calling netnet!)

i sent netnet a list of all our wedding to dos.. and she saw that there was one item that i have already checked.. hahaha! sabi nya 'ano yung x? complete na? isa pa lang natatapos natin?'  hahaha! sad to say, yes.. =p

but we did take care of the major stuffs before we left for SG.. kaya lang.. yung mga small stuffs doesnt seem so small now coz they will all affect the outcome of the wedding.. *still freaking out*

what to do? what to do? waaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh!

my pangga will be playing volleyball this weekend.. he suggested that i stay home to work on the wedding preps.. hehehe.. they werent really playing against another team.. practice lang.. so i gladly agreed..  =D

hopefully, ill be able to cross out some of the items on my list..

(calling netnet ulit!) =p

ill be online the whole day on saturday.. *grins*

hats off to ms. international

someone just forwarded this to me.. and without verifying the fact of it (coz i wasnt even able to watch it..).. i just have to share this with you guys..

hats off!

~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~

Alam niyo kung bakit nanalo ang pinas sa Ms. International!

"MABUHAY! representing the democratic and freedom loving people of the pearl of the orient, i am precious lara quigaman, from the beautiful country of THE PHILIPPINES"

Grabe nga ang tanong sa kanya.

Q: "what do you say to the people of the world who have typecasted filipinos as nannies?"

A: "i take no offence on being typecasted as a nanny. But i do take offence that the educated people of the world have somehow denegrated the true sense and meaning of what a nanny is. let me tell you what she is. she is someone who gives more than she takes. She is someone you trust to look after the very people most precious to you - your child, the elderly, yourself. she is the one who has made a living out of caring and loving other people. so to those who have typecasted us as nannies, thank you. it is a testament to the loving and caring culture of the Filipino people. and for that, i am forev! er proud and grateful of my roots and culture."

day @ suntech

we finally got to bring our digicam last sunday.. =D

we went to.. where else.. hehehe.. suntech..

here's my pangga's shot of the fountain.. and my picture somewhere near it..

we have nobody to take our picture together.. so ako palagi ang nasa frame.. =S

late lunch kami.. coz we ate breakfast around 11am.. hahaha!

tuk tuk thai was the restaurant that we picked for lunch.. i was craving for the otak otak.. it's a fish cake that tastes like bicol express.. pretty spicy.. =)

here's what we ordered..
pineapple rice..

homemade.. pork sausage something.. (i forgot the whole name.. hehehe..)
and fish otak! (im not sure why the images are not loading.. ill just post the pixs when i can..)

we didnt get to finish the food though.. too spicy!

we were also suppose to buy some stuffs.. but we're having second thoughts.. sabi nga ni pangga.. when you're not sure about something.. leave it for a while.. and think about it at home.. then you'll eventually realize if you really need it.. =)
that was our sunday! how was your's?

a chicago night in sg

remember the mp3 player i was 'bragging' (ehehe) about last weeked.. well, it suddenly stopped working last wednesday.. it just wouldnt turn on.. nasira tuloy araw ko.. when i got to work, i called the mall and they said i can have it replaced.. then the following day, when im suppose to return it.. it worked again.. =S

but i dont wanna take chances.. the player was kewl and all.. but if it breaks down again when my seven-days-to-return is up.. my pangga will kill me.. hehe.. well, maybe not kill.. but disappointed with the fact that it was money wasted..

so i decided to have it replaced with a different brand (SSF-3100).. an international one.. the former was a locally manufactured.. =)

it's just like the first one.. minus the video.. though this one has 50hrs of playback compared to the 10hrs of the first one.. there are certain trade offs.. but that's fine by me.. =)

the mall was at clark quey.. (pronounced daw as 'clark key') a few steps away is the line of gimmick places by the river.. it was sooo much kewler at night.. ive been there once during the afternoon.. it has much more life.. =D

it reminded us of chicago.. *sigh*

i miss chicago.. i dont like the cold (very cold) weather during winter.. but still i want to live there.. if not in this lifetime.. maybe in the next..

we decided to stroll and syempre.. dinner! =D

we went to... HOOTERS!

20 pcs hot hot chicken wings.. with side orders of blue cheese and celery for me.. and cheese fries for my pangga.. yummy! (and since it's spicy.. we much have lots of drinks.. a water and 7up for me.. and 2 rootbeers for my pangga)

this is what we'll actually be doing if we were still assigned in chicago.. *sigh*

if you've been to hooters.. you'll know that they are famous for their chicken wings.. and of course.. for their female servers with big.. uhmmm.. b**bs.. =p wearing short shorts and tight white tops.. with very loooow neck lines.. thus, the name H**ters =D

but the female population here in sg are not so.. let see.. well endowed.. hehehe..

so ang gimmick nila is.. hoola hoop! two of them would perform certain routines with the hoop.. ending it with one of them throwing 15 hoops to the other..(two or three at a time) while the other one is shaking her butt off to keep the hoops from falling.. hehehe! so far.. the people liked it.. im just not sure if its enough to compensate for what they are 'missing'.. hahaha!

twas fun spending the night with my pangga.. a la chicago.. =)

we'll definitely be back in that place.. at the most.. hahaha! once a month.. coz we spent $50 for that great dinner.. =p

mp3 players!

i know, i know.. i just bought one last month and you guys read it in one of my blogs..

this time my pangga and i, treated ourselves to one mp3 player each.. each with a GB of memory.. =D he got a player that is somewhat like the one i bought last month.. only smaller.. and with a bigger memory..

for myself.. hehehe.. i got the player than can play music videos too! =D woohoo! kewl huh? it's around 2.25" tall and 1.5" wide.. around .25 in thickness.. it's pretty small.. by the way, it can also store and view jpeg files.. as well as play songs with lyrics.. parang videoke.. =D all i need to do is place an .mp3 and a .lrc files with the same filename.. got to do a bit of coding on the .lrc file though.. but it's ok.. i, most probably, wont do than often.. it's just nice to know that that little gadget can do that.. =D oo nga pla.. it has FM radio and voice recording as well.. =)

we put our newly purchased gadgets to the test this afternoon when we bought the groceries.. =D hehehe.. ngayon, tig-isa na kami.. buti na lang napigilan naming sumayaw ulit.. hahaha.. magkaiba na kasi kami ng naririnig na tugtog.. =p

haaay.. gashtush! pwamis.. no more gadgets.. uhmmm.. for the next.. uhmmm.. 3 months? hahaha! =D
