I found this article on the net.. for those celebrating memorial day.. for those of us needing a little tug.. =)

Certain names from the past can elicit a variety of responses. The mention of Hitler, for example, brings feelings of contempt. On the other hand, a great historical figure like Churchill brings a positive response. Even within the circle of our own acquaintances, we remember some individuals with thankfulness, while we think negatively of others whose lives were spent in selfish pursuits.
On Memorial Day in the US, we pause to honor those of past generations. While many stirring recollections flood our minds, we realize that the time will come when each of us will also be a memory. What will others recall of our words and deeds when they think of us?
I once read about James Lewis Pettigru. His life was so exemplary that after his death the community erected a tombstone in his honor inscribed with these words:
UNAWED BY OPINION, UNSEDUCED BY FLATTERY,
UNDISMAYED BY DISASTER, HE CONFRONTED LIFE

it's a monday.. it's only 1030am and im already pissed off.. >=(
why?
ok.. let me just rant about this.. i just have to..
we have a $7 meal allowance if we ever do overtime.. with that said.. doesnt it mean that it is up to us to use the allowance so long as we produce the needed receipts?!?
an email was sent informing us that we should only be paying for our meals and not meals for 2 people.. since i was the first one who reimbursed (with great difficulty) for OT allowances.. i knew he was referring to my receipts..
ok.. there were receipts that had two orders of burgers in it.. but wait.. did i ask for more than $7 in my reimbursement form.. NO.
coz i understood the policy.. maybe they dont.
does it always mean that if there were two orders of whatever in the receipt, i was ordering for two persons? how do they qualify the receipts? say, my guy teammate ordered for 3 burgers since his hungry, would that mean he was ordering for 3 persons?
he said that it was not him who questioned it but rather the one to whom he was reporting.. and he said that if i do have an issue with it, i should take it up with his immediate supervisor.. uh duh? are we not reporting to you? shouldnt you be the one who questioned it first when it was initially brought up?
you may not be a contractor anymore.. but you were, a couple of months ago.. tsk tsk.. all the more that you should understand our point of view..
it's not like we're stealing from 'your' company.. nor are we trying to get more than what is due to us.. in fact even with the allowance, we're still working beyond the number of hours that we are being paid for.. i wasnt really complaining but you started it.. making us feel less just because of our employment status..
heck, we dont need your so called allowance.. it's all yours! so long as you dont expect us to work beyond the expected working hours..
sad to say, that people do change.. and sometimes for the worst.. or maybe they're really like that (even before i met them) and i was just not aware of it.. well, too bad for me..
drunken burglar
was just going through the newspaper a while ago.. check this out..
a burglar was caught, in Australia if i remember it right.. how?
he downed a bottle of vodka (tsk, tsk.. drinking on the job..) and fell asleep on the masters bedroom.. in the morning, the owner saw the stranger on his bed with his pocket full of jewelries.. genius huh? =S
movie and dinner
we watched xmen yesterday and it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the last movie we watched.. =) the action and CGI were superb..
i dont remember watching the 2 other xmen movies.. given that.. this movie is great and fast paced.. though it's pacing may not appeal to some..
there are a couple of cheesy lines.. one of which was when wolverine said that they'll still be figthing (though out numbered) as the 'x-men'.. something close to that.. uh ok? wasnt delivered well.. hehehe..
and was it just me or does wolverine really heals that fast? o well, the movie is still worth a watch.. =D
after the movie, we headed to marina bay to have dinner.. the place was called pin xian if im not mistaken.. it's an eat all you can place for $12 each.. there were 17 of us.. dami noh.. so we got a long table with four stoves.. yes.. we get to cook our food.. we can get some cooked food from one of the buffet tables.. but where's the fun in that, right? =p

frogs were brought at some space missions.. for experiments..
with that, they discovered that frogs can do something in space that humans do as well.. aside from breathing.. hehehe
frogs can actually throw up.. how?
a frog will throw up its stomach first.. the stomach will be dangling out of its mouth.. then, according to the article i read, the frog will use its forearms to dig out all of the stomach's content and then swallow the stomach back down..

i just know that im very curious as to how this looks like.. and i bet some people would like to do that if they can.. =p
my pangga's birthday
yesterday was my pangga's special day.. sayang we dont have a birthday leave like the one that my dad's office give their employees.. =( it would be a well deserved rest day for my pangga..
i gave my gift 12 days ago.. hehehe.. there's no use waiting for the exact day anyway.. i knew he needed it already..
we bought a 300GB one touch seagate back up drive.. coz he has used up his laptop's disk space na.. dami kasing files.. hehehe..
ok.. going back to yesterday.. we had dinner with his sister (and her soon to be husband) at parkway parade fish & co..
i ate more than my usual serving that i had to stay up a bit late just to make sure na hindi ako babangungutin.. hahaha!
we had coffee at starbucks after dinner.. we had to get our coffee from another place coz the coffee in the food resto tastes like it was squeezed from last week's coffee beans.. yuck! we know coz oneal's sister ordered one.. but their food was great though.. just keep away from the coffee..

really got hooked to AI coz of Elliot.. been reading articles sent to me by pangga and here's one that you may find interesting.. pizza night!
i've never really had a 'whatever' night.. pasta night, bowling night, movie night and so many other nights that other people got to experience..today we got home a bit early because the cable guy is coming.. after he left, my pangga suggested that we order pizza.. we havent had pizza since we got here so we're pretty excited.. hehe.. after eating a slice or two of our super supreme stuffed cheesy lava 3 crust pizza (yummy!).. we declared.. hahaha.. declared? that wednesday will be our pizza night!talk about gaining calories 2 months before the wedding.. hehehe.. good thing we have a pool and gym right here.. =) now we'll be able to use the condo facilities all the time.. *cross-fingers*

woohoo! woohoo! uhuh-uhuh-uhuh! =Dhehehe.. la lang.. we've cable at last.. after a month of thinking if we should get one.. =Dyehey cartoons! and reruns of course! ^_^
vesak day
friday was a holiday.my friend's mom who was visiting asked me why it was a holiday.. and then i realized i uhmmm.. dont know.. hahaha! i guess, having an extra rest day was good enough for me.. didnt even bother to ask what the holiday was about.. ="> *blush*so here's a bit of info for you guys and for myself as well.. heehee..vesak or buddha day, is an opportunity for buddhist to reflect on the life and teachings of buddha.. it highlights the potential for inner peace and happiness in all of us.. i saw bits of videos on tv showing how they celebrate vesak day.. some people bathe the statue of buddha as an expression of allegiance to him.. the monks and other devotees where giving aways gifts to the poor.. and a candlelit procession concluded the celebration.. i know the celebration is much more that what i just wrote.. but at least now i have a better understanding of what it is.. =)
our precious
we just bought our wedding rings! this afternoon.. i dont have a picture of it yet.. ill post a pic when we get it by the end of the month.. we bought the ring at SK jewellery.. white gold.. a plain one for my pangga and mine has diamonds that are set pretty much like an eternity ring but nicer and more elegant.. hahahah! e bakit ba.. ring ko yun e.. and this is my blog.. =p *defensive* hehehe =pi just love our rings.. and the shopping was quick.. we walked into the store, checked out the different designs and paid for the one that we liked.. sabi ng pangga ko.. ganyan daw magshop ang mga guys.. mabilis lang.. i dont usually shop like that.. i like going around muna and knowing my options.. hehehe.. but this time around, twas ok.. i guess it just worked for us.. we knew what we wanted and there they were.. our precious.. =)
singapore visit - part 2
after taking some photos with the dolphins.. we stayed by the beach while waiting for the rain to stopped.. bummer! the news said that it was gonna be rainy for the whole weekend.. *sigh*
my dad wanted to get to know more about the country and get some history.. with that we bought tickets to fort siloso.. we did a lot of reading, watching and walking here.. so by the time we're done.. everyone was tired.. well, my parents at least.. they wanted to rest already.. my dad wasnt feeling well too.. so we just went home.. rested a bit.. went to the doctor for my dad.. then ate dinner at a thai resto.. yummy! this time we were able to finished everything that we ordered =)
let see, back track a little.. before we went to sentosa, my little bro and dad went for a swim.. but then after that, my dad's ear bothered him a lot.. by night, he felt like he was coming down with a fever.. nakasama yata yung pagswim nila.. so the day after our sentosa trip.. we stayed home most of the day.. went to the mall and did our weekly grocery.. hang out by the pool.. shot some pictures..
by 6pm we left for the night safari! it was on the other side of singapore.. grabe! more than an hour drive.. we rented a five seater car just so we could all travel together.. =) on the way to the safari, it rained hard.. i thought it would be a big waste of time.. and all of us would just go home disappointed.. buti na lang it stopped when we got there.. =) thank you Lord.. =D
we ate dinner after buying our tickets.. then off to the tram.. going around the safari could either be by tram or by walking or both.. =D syempre dun kami sa both.. =p i sat on the side of the tram where there's suppose to be a door.. but there's none.. hehehe.. i wanted to be near to the animals as i can.. but i the same time.. i was a wee-bit scared.. hahaha! scared that something might leap from behind the bushes.. so all throughout the ride i was holding oneal tight.. =p
saturday is shopping day.. we went around to buy their pasalubongs.. again there was much walking involved.. well, oneal and i are used to it.. mom and dad arent.. hehehe.. so we needed to go home after 3 to 4 malls.. but it was ok.. we had time to rest by the pool, chat, swim and take pictures..
we headed to the seafood center for dinner.. we ate at jumbo.. and syempre pa.. on the menu, CHILI CRAB!!! yummy!
the rest of the night was spent on packing, some more chat.. and crying.. ='(
i miss them so much.. cant wait for their next visit.. still dont know when that'll be.. but i know for sure ill see them i n 2 months! at our wedding! =D
wedding invitation

singapore visit - part 1
my parents had a great time here in SG.. =) they told me so.. hahaha! =p nah.. we can tell.. =)
they got here a little pass 4pm last april 19.. my pangga and i took 1 exit each.. just to make sure we dont miss them.. and sure enough, we were able to spot them as they got into the baggage area.. there was even a slight wow mali moment where my dad was waiting on the wrong baggage carousel.. hehehe.. well, being first time travellers, it wasnt so bad..
we got to our place.. rested a bit and took the bus to suntec city.. we rode the double decker bus.. my dad had fun checking out the manggoes on the trees by the road.. why nobody's picking them even if there were a lot of ripe ones already (sabi namin bawal kasi.. mahal ang fine).. from the seat on the bus.. you can almost reach the manggoes.. well, given that the bus has no glass windows.. =p
we got to suntec.. first stop.. dinner! hahahaha! exciting huh.. =p
we ate at a japanese resto, ichiban.. ordered more than we can eat.. so we had to have the food to go.. japanese food for breakfast, anyone? *lol* =p
we went around the area a bit.. to the koi garden, to the fountain of wealth (just so happened that the fountain was under maintenance for the whole duration of their stay here.. *sigh*), our office - the millenia tower, the esplanade.. and our last stop for the night, the merlion =)
we did quite a lot of walking.. coz that's the easiest way to go around singapore.. more walking on the next three days.. =D
second day.. to sentosa!
the cable car was under maintenance as well.. phew! so we took the bus going to the island.. =p
first attraction to check out.. underwater world.. my parents really enjoyed this one.. mushy, but i got teary-eyed when i heard my parents say 'ni sa panaginip, di namin naisip na makakaexperience kami ng ganito' and 'o, eto na yung nakikita natin sa tv'.. i wish i could give back more to them.. even if it's a bit at a time.. share the blessings that we've been given.. i just like to see them happy.. *sigh*
moving on with my story.. hehehe.. got a bit emotional there.. ="> what's in the underwater world.. well.. water species of course.. hehehe.. and tons of them..
my parents and little bro loved the touch pool.. this is where you can touch real live fishes.. sting ray, shark (baby shark), star fish, and a lot more..
the other thing they liked the most was the part where you enter a glass tunnel on a walkalator while watching all sorts of water creatures.. what made this experience even cooler is that we were able to catch the feeding time.. two divers got inside this huge glass tank where we were under and started feeding the fishes..
i was kinda scared for them at first.. you would too if there were a number of sharks swimming nearby *chills* ..
i was able to catch the stingray chomping off the head of a fish during feeding time.. it was easy to get it on video as his mouth was on the lower part of his body.. just above me! =D
we had lunch before proceeding to the next stop.. the dolphin lagoon! my fave! as you can remember, ive already gotten close and personnal with han, yang and jumbo.. =D
and would you believe it.. my brother got lucky when he was picked to participate in one of the activities where he had to use the hoola-hoop while the dolphins were doing the same.. and as a prize he got to touch, hug, pet the dophin and get kissed by the dolphin.. kewl huh.. =D and i got it all on camera!

work woman work!
i guess this is what i hear inside my head whenever i try to take a bit of break from work.. work is toxic! especially with this unreasonable estimates (wait, do we even have one?) and deadline.. i hardly have time to sleep, read my mails.. much more, to blog.. *sigh*my post about my parents' visit has long been overdue.. hopefully i can blog this weekend.. i cant really post the pictures.. coz our "shared" connection is a wee-bit slooow (hehehe.. nakikishare na lang, nagrereklamo pa =p).. so id just post the link to the photo album.. =)hope you guys had a great long weekend.. kami, last saturday.. breakfast muna with champorado, dilis and danggit.. then rest, then biking.. i think we enjoyed breakfast too much that we started late na with biking.. eto, nognog! hmpft! =p
