The Notebook

channel scan.. great when there's nothing good on tv.. =) but i chance upon this movie, which i do not know the title more so the actors.. well, that's nothing new, as i seldom remember actors and actresses..

on the latter part of the movie, there came a dialogue between the main characters.. how love is a choice and everything that happens thereafter depends on us..

this dialogue reminded me of a book i read last january, The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks..

Chapter One: Miracles

The romantics would call this a love story, the cynics would call it a tragedy. In my mind it's a little bit of both, and no matter how you choose to view it in the end, it does not change the fact that it involves a great deal of my life and the path I've chosen to follow. I have no complaints about my path and the places it has taken me; enough complaints to fill a circus tent about other things, maybe, but the path I've chosen has always been the right one, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

my reading of the book was a total accident.. i was with my cousins in new jersey, it was my last night.. i think we were deciding on what to do.. for some reason, we ended up watching the movie based on the book The Notebook.. my cousin, Buday, suggested it eventhough she has watched the movie three times already.. =D

but just when the movie was getting on the good part, the part that was suppose to make everyone cry.. it hanged! i forgot to mention that it was a pirated CD by the way..

the next day when we were at the airport, my cousins gave me a book! they knew i was dying to know what happened, how the story ended..

twas really a good read.. about the enduring power of love.. it was about a man who would read a notebook to his wife who was sick with alzeimers.. this notebook contains their love story, what they went through and how they were able to overcome everything.. there were times that while reading the notebook, his wife would remember, as if she didn't have the dreaded illness.. and this brought him so much joy.. even for just a couple of minutes.. even for just a while, he knew that all his effort were not in vain and will never be.. here is an exerpt from the book..

"I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common man with common thoughts and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough."

here is
Chapter One, Miracles.. read on!
